INNOBIO is raising the bar in nutritional ingredient technology with the launch of Durlip™ Liposomal Silybin. By addressing the long-standing formulation challenges associated with traditional milk thistle extracts, Durlip™ offers a highly bioavailable and water-dispersible solution that opens new possibilities for supplement manufacturers.
Silybin, the primary active flavonoid in silymarin, is well known for its strong antioxidant properties and its role in supporting liver health and the body's natural detoxification processes[1]. However, its use in commercial applications has traditionally been limited by poor water solubility, resulting in low bioavailability and formulation difficulties.
Durlip™ Liposomal Silybin overcomes these challenges through three key innovations:
· Superior Water Dispersibility
Traditional silybin ingredients are inherently hydrophobic and difficult to formulate. Durlip™ offers excellent water dispersibility, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into a wide range of liquid and semi-solid formats. This makes it suitable for applications, including clear beverages, functional foods, and liquid supplements, where traditional silybin have failed.
· Verified Liposomal Integrity
True liposomal delivery goes beyond simple mixing. INNOBIO applies a rigorous liposomal validation system to ensure consistent product performance. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis reveals a distinct crystalline transformation in Durlip™, providing direct evidence of successful encapsulation. Furthermore, unlike simple physical blends that remain insoluble, Durlip™ dissolves completely in dichloromethane, confirming the formation of a true liposomal complex rather than a mixture.
· Clinically Relevant Bioavailability
The goal of liposomal technology is to enhance ingredient delivery. Through advanced encapsulation techniques, Durlip™ protects silybin during digestion and supports targeted release at the intestinal wall. Pharmacokinetic studies show that Durlip™ achieves a faster peak plasma concentration and significantly greater overall bioavailability compared to standard silybin extracts. This ensures the ingredient is effectively absorbed and the utilized by the body for maximum benefit.
"Durlip™ represents a major advancement for formulators looking to leverage the benefits of Liposomal Silybin," said a representative from INNOBIO. "By validating the liposomal structure and proving our enhanced absorption profile, we offer a solution that is both science-backed and application-friendly."
